WELCOME!
Bethany PTA
What is the Bethany PTA? PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is a National organization run locally by Bethany parents, teachers and people in our community. We completely operate on volunteer services and are funded only through generous financial donations and school fundraisers. As a non-profit organization, we operate completely independent of the Plano School District, but, we work closely with Mrs. Bleggi and her staff to enhance your child’s education at Bethany.
What does the Bethany PTA provide for Students? We provide help in the classrooms, educational programs, and enrichment activities. Throughout the school year you will see and hear about fun and educational activities that the PTA provides. Specifically, these are the programs and events that will be tenatively sponsored and funded by the PTA this year:
* Reflections Art Program
* Class Parties
* Student Directory
* Back to School Movie Night
* Assemblies that compliment the student’s curriculum:
Animals Sensing their World, Amazing World of Light, Courage to Stand, Dennis Lee, See Sharp
* Fine Arts Day
* Technology Enhancements; Projectors for the Classrooms
* Books and Materials for a Writing Library
* Literacy Library Books for guided reading
* Breakfast with Bethany Bunch
* Bunch Bits Newsletter- weekly newsletter
* Field Trips
* Library – Author Visits
* Playground Equipment
* Substitutes for class rooms so teachers are available for one-on-one student assessment
How do I become a member of the PTA? It's easy, just fill out a membership form, available at the school or on this website. Pay a $12 family membership fee or $9 single membership fee. And turn it back into the school and you and your family will be apart of the Bethany PTA. As a member, you have an important voice in the decision-making process at a local and state level.
What am I commitmenting myself to as a member of the PTA? The PTA cannot function or enrich your child’s experience without volunteer and monetary support and help from parents, grandparents and relatives, like you. As a member, you have an important voice in the decision-making process relating to how money is spent and state laws and regualations at a local and state level.
If your time is limited - but you would like to volunteer and share your talents, we have some great opportunties for you. Contact Susan Wise, VP of Volunteers, at jbsbduck@verizon.net or call 972-742-9420. We would also appreciate your financial support with the PTA’s 3 major fundraisers with donations and sales (Write-A-Check Campaign, Passbook and Sally Foster). This will provide the funds for the items listed above.
If you would like to become more involved - and want to know what volunteer positions would be right for you, please contact Linda Sealy PTA President, at lindasealy@yahoo.com or call 972-491-5614. There are many service opportunities and we need talented and willing people to help accommplish the many events and programs throughout the year. Not only volunteer service is available, but we would also appreciate your financial support with the PTA’s 3 major fundraisers (Write-A-Check Campaign, Passbook and Sally Foster).
Do I have to attend meetings? The Bethany PTA has 5 General Assembly Meetings a year. They are usually held ½ hour before events held at the school. At these meetings, we will report on issues, events and programs and vote on the operating budget of the PTA. We value our member’s inputs and want you to be informed, but if you are to busy to attend, we will post the meeting minutes on the website, so that you can stay as informed as you like.
